You can find Creek + Elm in local businesses like Little Luxuries and The Regal Find as well as online.
Lands’ End – Lands’ End is based out of Dodgeville and has been in business since 1963. They are my go-to for high-quality, warm, and weatherproof winter coats (which are MUST in Wisconsin). And flattering and well-made swimsuits as well. Lands’ End offers clothing and accessories for men, women, and children. Plus home goods as well. Their monogrammed canvas tote bags are fantastic for gift giving and can serve as overnight bags, work bags, beach bags, and more. I received the large one as a bridesmaids gift over 10 years ago, and still use it to this day!
Kohl’s Department Stores – Kohl’s Department Store is also a staple Wisconsin retailer, which is headquartered in Menomonee Falls. Similar to Lands’ End, Kohl’s has a little something for everyone, including clothing and accessories for the whole family, home goods, toys and games, and more. They even sell Lands’ End items on their web site and in store! Along with Sephora Beauty.
GILTEE Apparel – GILTEE Apparel is based out of Milwaukee, offering clothing and accessories that appeal to the Midwest lifestyle. Think super soft Wisco-themed sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and more. For men, women, infants, and children. You can find GILTEE in many local shops in Wisconsin, including BOOTH 121, Pear & Simple, and University Bookstore. Plus, you will get 15% off your order of GILTEE Apparel when you order from their website and use code: madtownmom.
Duluth Trading Company – Duluth Trading Company is headquartered in Mount Horeb and sells heavy-duty clothing, footwear, and accessories that are made to last, for both men and women. Along with gifts and gear like lunchboxes and coolers, leather bags, knives and axes, and more. My husband is OBSESSED with Duluth and hits up their outlet stores every chance he gets. He got a $200 gift card to Duluth Trading Company one Christmas and was like a kid in a candy store. They have a Big & Tall section as well if you are looking for a special fit.
Ashley Furniture – Ashley HomeStore and Ashley Furniture are based out of Arcadia. I had the pleasure of partnering with them in 2021 and upgraded our kitchen table and changed the whole look of our living room with new artwork, pillows, poufs, and throws. We also purchased new living room furniture from their Warehouse Sale at the Beltline location in 2020. And have been happy with the pieces we acquired there. So if you need new furniture or home goods, or know someone who does, Ashley is a great place to look.
Beauty & Skincare
Zodica Perfumery – Zodica Perfumery recently relocated their headquarters to Madison from Monroe. You can shop perfume, bath bombs, lotion, and more inspired by the signs of the Zodiac. Including their new Zodiac Perfume Palette, which allows you to mix and match scents to create a signature scent as unique as you are! If you know someone who is really into astrology, or just truly identifies as their sign, Zodica Perfumery perfume would make a wonderful gift! Plus you can take 15% off your Zodica order with code: madtownmomma.
Qet Botanicals – Qet was based in Cross Plains and recently relocated to Fort Atkinson. They have a store in San Clemente, CA as well. Qet makes beauty and skincare products using organic ingredients you can actually pronounce. Like olive oil, green tea, lavender flower, and more. Their 5-step skincare suites are a great place to start. Each containing a cleanser, exfoliator, toner, moisturizer/hydrator, and treatment/enhancer. Give the gift of luxurious skincare free of harmful chemicals with Qet. You can take 20% off your first order with this referral link.
Health & Fitness
Schwinn Bikes – Part of Pacific Cycle, Schwinn Bikes is headquartered right here in Madison! I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a Schwinn Brand Ambassador for the past 9 months and have truly fallen in love with biking as a result. Our family is now the proud owner of six Schwinn bikes. Yes, six! My favorite by far is my Coston CE Step-Thru Electric Bike, which was gifted to me through the partnership. It rides up to 20 miles per hour and can get me to and from work in almost the same amount of time it takes to drive! I never even attempted to ride my bike to work before this.
I also have the Wayfarer Hybrid Cruiser for bopping around my neighborhood. Which I won through an Instagram giveaway in 2022. And both my husband and son have the High Timber Mountain Bike in different sizes. A bike would make an awesome gift for the holidays! Especially for a kiddo who is just learning to ride or love biking! My son relearned on the Koen, which is a great starter bike for a kid just getting the hang of things.
Toys & Games
American Girl – For many families in America, American Girl is probably a household name. They’ve been around since I was a kid. And they are headquartered in Middleton, WI, which is one of Madison’s next door neighbors. Though acquired by Mattel back in the 90’s, American Girl continues to be operated out of Wisconsin. While I never actually owned an American Girl doll, I did own several of the books based on the historical characters, Molly, Samantha, and Kirsten. Now there are tons of different characters and a huge store in Chicago that I hear is quite an experience. If you have a girl in your life who is doll playing age, American Girl dolls are very popular!
PlayMonster – PlayMonster is a company that makes and sells toys and games based out of Beloit. They sell games like Five Crowns, which my family really enjoys, and Farkle (which we also own, but haven’t played yet). You can also find things like PlaySkool toys for toddlers (did you know PlaySkool started in Wisconsin as well?), Spirograph, and Koosh balls through PlayMonster’s web site. So, check out this Wisconsin-based company for your toy and game gift giving needs this season!
Food & Beverages
The Swiss Colony – The Swiss Colony is part of Colony Brands, which is located in Monroe. I remember getting The Swiss Colony catalogs as a kid. And the cheese and sausage gift boxes you could order from them as well. In addition to meat and cheese, you can order nuts, chocolate, cookies, cakes, and more. The Caramel Pecan Clusters were always my favorite growing up. If you want to gift the taste of Wisconsin this season, check out The Swiss Colony or The Wisconsin Cheeseman.
I hope this post has introduced you to a new company or two. And inspired you to shop Wisconsin-owned companies this holiday season! While many of these companies have stores nationwide, or perhaps have been acquired by larger corporations, being headquartered here in Wisconsin helps create and keep jobs right here in our communities.
Let me know if you have a favorite Wisconsin-based retailer or small business I missed that you want to give a shoutout to in the comments!
Happy Holidays!
