A Few Of My Favorite Things: Gift Ideas for Her

As you have probably gathered by now, I am an avid shopper. I love to shop local, shop small, and shop sustainably. But I also just simply know a good deal when I find one!

With my long-standing shopping addiction, I’ve tried many a product and developed a list of my personal favs over the years. Since I know it is hard to shop for others and come up with new ideas year after year, I’m sharing a few of my favorite things that would make great gifts for ladies in your life this holiday season!

I know that the holidays will look a lot different for many of us, and we may not be gathering in large groups like we are used to. I also know many families are struggling to make ends meet. Thus, holiday shopping may cause significant financial stress to already strained budgets. As a result, most of these gift recommendations will fall in the under $50 range.

With many retailers launching their Black Friday specials early this year, if you want to get a jump on your holiday shopping, now is the time. If not, bookmark this post and come back to it when you are ready to start checking peeps off of your list. I’ll share a gift guide for him and for kids later this week.

Gifts for Her – Under $50

Beauty/Personal Care

I love this Zaaina Natural Handcrafted Artisan Soaps Bundle, priced at $27.99 from Costco and have bought one for myself several times. These handmade in the USA soaps come in a 6-pack of a variety of scents and are free from harsh and nasty chemicals like Parabens, Phthalates and Sulfates. Each soap is also individually packaged in a little, printed, handmade box, which makes them perfect for gifting together as a set, or individually! If you don’t have a Costco membership, you can also buy this brand on Etsy!

Another sweet score from Costco is this Dionis Limited Edition Goat Milk Hand Cream, which comes in an 8-pack for $21.99. I saw 6-packs in store for just $9.99 at my local Costco last weekend as well, in non-seasonal scents like Water Flowers & Sea Salt and Milk & Honey. These are luxurious hand creams that are delightfully scented and are cruelty- and paraben-free. And this is a fantastic price! Again, this is great for gifting as is. Or you could break them up into smaller gifts and add a few other items (like the soaps above!) to make a spa-like gift to give to several different people. Macy’s also has a 5-piece set with different scents for $17.

If you are breaking up gift sets to combine items and create several small gifts, this Savannah Bee the Balm set from Kohl’s is also a good bet at $18.99 on sale. The set includes 7 cruelty-free beeswax and propolis lip balms in unique flavors like Early Grey, Mint Julep, and Sweet Tea, which makes them feel a bit more special.

For beauty lovers, the Deborah Lippmann Fall Nail Duo 15-Piece Set is also a great gift at $31.99, from – you guessed it – Costco! It is actually two nail polish sets in one. One “Very Berry” 6 polish set, along with a “Brave, Honest, Beautiful” 9 polish set. Deborah Lippmann polishes are vegan and 10-free, which means they are free of 10 harmful ingredients that may be found in conventional nail polish. For point of comparison, Nordstrom is selling the same 6-piece “Very Berry” set currently for $36.00.

I love love LOVE the bath bombs from Nectar Bath Treats! Their products are also handmade, cruelty-free, and vegan. In fact they are made in Las Vegas where I was first introduced to their fun little bath and beauty treats. I’ve only ever tried the bath bombs, but I can highly recommend them for bath lovers! My kiddo adores these too and I often don’t get to use them because he steals them from me! They even come in fun seasonal shapes and sizes like waffles, snowflakes and gingerbread men, making them a fun gift for the littles in your life as well.

I love creating gift sets out of gift sets. So if you have a set of friends you usually buy gifts for, package these all together to create a sweet little gift for each of them! You can include a hand cream, handmade soap, lip balm, bath bomb and nail polish in each!

Loungewear/Pajamas

If you need a gift for your mom, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law or cousin, etc. pajamas are also a great gift! Who doesn’t love a comfortable and cute pajama set, especially during our bitter Wisconsin winters? Costco has several cute sets at really great prices, including this Munki Munki Ladies’ 3-piece Set that comes with two pairs of pants in two different colors (both exclusive Costco prints for the Costco-lover in your life), along with one matching shirt for $24.99. They come in a range of sizes from X-Small to XX-Large.

Or, one of these three different prints in the Eddie Bauer 3- piece set which runs from Small-XL and is currently on sale for $25.50 at Kohl’s as well!

A nice set of slippers can also be a great gift and I’m a big fan of Muk Luks slippers. I own the Gladys myself, which currently comes in four different patterns at Kohl’s. They have a super cute bootie version in a classic red buffalo plaid print that would make a wonderful gift as well.

I also highly recommend Minnetonka moccasin slippers, particularly the Junior Trapper style in red/grey plaid currently available at DSW for $34.99. I own several pair of Minnetonka, both regular mocs and slipper styles, and truly love them all. If the red/grey plaid isn’t your jam, they have basic tan and gray too, along with black for $39.99.

Clothing/Accessories

CC Beanie hats are a hit at nearly every local boutique in town. Details Boutique in Cambridge has a wide selection of pom pom beanies, non-pom beanies, matching gloves and mittens, and scarves in a variety of colors! Snag a hat or two for the ladies in your life, or better yet, grab a coordinating set that will keep her warm during these cold Wisconsin winters! Prices range from $15-42 per piece. (You might even recognize a model or two while poking around their site!)

FYI, this coat is also on sale for just $19.99 at Costco right now. This is the 32 Degrees Ladies Hooded Stretch Jacket in purple. I had to size up one size, but for that price, it is a STEAL! And the color is beautiful and coordinates perfectly with my new hat and gloves.

Details also has Initial Necklaces that are all the rage right now! Whether she likes gold or silver, there is a necklace for everyone. And at $15 a piece, the price just can’t be beat. They are just like the ones at Anthropologie but for about half the price!

The 5-in-1 Turnlock Mini Bag is also a STEAL and comes in a wide range of colors! The bag can be used five different ways, as a wallet, wristlet, crossbody, shoulder bag, or fanny pack, making it multi-functional along with being just cute as can be. These are just $38 per bag. I know socks sometimes get a bad wrap in terms of holiday gifts, but alpaca socks by Campo Alpaca are a game changer! These socks are made from 80% baby alpaca fiber, which is the softest alpaca fiber there is! They have both lighter and more heavyweight styles depending on whether you are buying for an indoorsy or outdoorsy type! They run from $25-28 per pair and there is even a boot length version available! If you know someone who struggles with sleep as well, this 100% Cotton Weighted Blanket has definitely helped! Priced just right at $24.36 for Black Friday it is a great deal if testing out a weighted option for the first time.

Speaking of alpaca fiber, I LOVE this Wisconsin Alpaca Hoodie in Salt & Pepper also by Campo Alpaca. These are made in Lima, Peru and are very high quality and come with some fun little details, like a multicolored patch on the sleeve. These are made to last by a UW alum (read more here), and worth the investment of $134. Again, you can take 10% off your order with code: MADTOWNMOMMA. In keeping with the Wisconsin theme, Kendra Scott also makes a necklace that looks like the back of a Wisconsin Union Terrace chair! The Deanne Long Pendent comes in silver, gold, or rose cold and is on sale for $59.97 (down from $98). It’s a gorgeous statement that elevates any outfit! I have the silver.
