[AD] I cleaned out my closets last weekend and got rid of three gigantic bags of clothes.

My closets were overstuffed, so I told myself I had to be ruthless.

The rule was to get rid of anything that didn’t fit quite right and was too short, too long, or too snug across the bust.

Anything with holes or stains. Or that hadn’t been worn in a few years and I simply didn’t love.

It felt good to clear out the clutter and more tightly curate my closet. Keeping only those items that truly brought me joy and fit exceptionally well.

It was also interesting to see which brands made their way into the donate bags the most. And which ones didn’t.

Based on what I learned the last time I did this too, I can name a few places I probably shouldn’t shop at anymore as a result.

And that just because it’s on sale/cheap doesn’t mean I should buy it.

I can also tell you that one of my most kept brands was @universalstandard (US).

Hard to believe summer is over and school has offi

Hard to believe summer is over and school has officially started.

Usually I’d still have a pretty sunny disposition. Especially since it’s my birthday month.

But life has actually been pretty stressful lately.

I share that because so often everything on social media is tightly curated and paints a picture of a perfectly charmed life.

And that’s just not the reality of how things tend to ebb and flow.

How some seasons are harder than others.

How sometimes life feels heavy and like it’s throwing you a bunch of curve balls and you just keep swinging and missing.

But I won’t allow darker times to complete rob me of my happiness.

I’ll still find joy in the simple things. And small moments of everyday life.

I’ve always been a bit of an optimist that way.

And I know the clouds will part and the storm will pass at some point, like it always does.

I’ve just gotta reach into my pocket full of sunshine to try to remain positive while I wait it out. ☀️

If you are experiencing trying times, know you are not alone.

Do you have prints you tend to shy away from or swear you don’t like? #ad

For me, paisley has always been one of those prints.

But I was immediately drawn to this tiered maxi dress from @jjillstyle at @greenwayshopping when I saw it!

Maybe it’s the color combo.

Or the long, flowy style.

But evidently I was wrong!

Turns out, paisley prints are a-okay with me! 👌🏽

The end of the season is upon us and I can’t hel

The end of the season is upon us and I can’t help but think about all of the things I said I was going to do that didn’t get done this summer.

And yet I also know, that what I did was enough.

Probably even MORE than enough.

We often put too much pressure on ourselves to do all of the things.

Check off all of the boxes.

Try to cram it all in.

And set unrealistic goals for what we can actually accomplish in the time we have.

So just know that regardless of how many things still remain on your to do list…

Or the fact that you didn’t get to everything you thought you’d be able to do…

You did enough.

And you ARE enough.

If you chose to prioritize people over things, or connection over completion, that means you did EXACTLY what you were supposed to do this summer.

The rest is just going to have to continue to wait.

Hello August. Nice to see you again.

It’s hard to believe summer is winding down and we only have one month left.

August always feels like it goes warp speed as we are trying to pack everything in before school starts.

One more camping trip.

A few more trips to the pool before it closes.

A festival or two.

Another backyard BBQ with friends or family.

The overwhelm of constantly being on the go often sets in for me right about now.

When I realize how much I have yet to do at work before the students come back.

When I try to figure out when I’m going to have time to do laundry.

And clean the house.

Or honestly, just have a little time to myself.

But I’m learning how to say “no” when I need to. To try to maintain a sense of balance for me and my family.

It can be hard to miss out on things you are used to doing or WANT to do.

But harder still to feel out of whack because you don’t leave yourself enough time to rest, reset, and recover.

So if you are also feeling a sense of overwhelm with packed weekends and too many activities crammed in for the remainder of summer, give yourself permission to let something go.

To say “no” to that one more thing.

And make some space for you to also savor this time without always having to be on the go.

Lounging in the backyard with a book is also pretty nice this time of year.

Whatever lies ahead for you this month, I hope you enjoy every moment.

It’s become a tradition!

Like truly unplug?

Even if just for a day?

I went “Up North” with some friends this past weekend and it was the first time in a long time that I did not feel tethered to my phone.

As a content creator, I pretty much always feel connected. 📱

And as a busy, full-time working mom, I’m usually multitasking on my device when I’m home with my family. Or in between sports or activities. ⚽️

When I’m not reading camp emails, and responding to texts and messages, I’m booking appointments, and trying to register for the next thing coming up. 🗓️

Or taking pictures and videos to try to capture all the memories. 📸

But dang, it feels good to just go off the grid and put the phone away for awhile.

And just take in the sounds of nature without multiple notifications popping up.

Actually kicking my feet up and relaxing without feeling the constant pull to check my email “real quick”.

Or my Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.

It’s like I finally broke the spell.

Even if it was just for 36 hours or so.

Honestly, I really haven’t taken much of a break since I started this whole blogging thing.

And I’m realizing more and more how important breaks are.

Because burn out is real.

So I’m finally allowing myself a little time off here and there.

Because I’m the boss in this situation right?

And what would a good boss tell you to do?

Take time off when you need to.

Work will be there when you get back.

So, if you are feeling like you are burning the candle at both ends…Or like your phone is controlling you, and not the other way around - Schedule a phone free day if you can.

I know it’s not always that simple. You’ve still gotta answer if camp or day care calls.

But you could also book a weekend away somewhere where there is no reception too.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. 😉

In all seriousness though, take a break. Whatever that looks like or means to you.

You deserve it.
